Effective date: August 7, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of The Hobby Guy Workshop (the “Workshop”), operated by The Louisiana Hobby Guy, LLC (“LHG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Workshop, creating an account, participating in a beta program, or uploading content, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Workshop.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Workshop only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting your password and login credentials, and for activity conducted through your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
2. Permitted use and community conduct
The Workshop is provided for lawful laser-making, project documentation, education, collaboration, testing, and related maker activities. You may not use the Workshop to:
- violate any law, regulation, court order, or third-party right;
- harass, threaten, impersonate, defraud, or deliberately mislead another person;
- upload malware, malicious code, corrupted files, or content designed to interfere with the Workshop or another user’s device;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, databases, private content, or administrative functions;
- collect or disclose another person’s private or personal information without authorization;
- spam, scrape, automate access in a manner that disrupts the service, or otherwise interfere with the security or normal operation of the Workshop.
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to protect users, the Workshop, LHG, or third parties.
3. User content and ownership
You retain ownership of original content that you upload or create, including project descriptions, photographs, artwork, designs, machine files, project files, comments, and other materials (collectively, “User Content”). Uploading User Content does not transfer your copyright or other ownership rights to LHG.
You grant LHG a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, resize, convert, transmit, display, and otherwise use your User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, back up, and provide the Workshop and to honor the privacy or visibility settings you select. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for temporary backup copies, legal retention, security records, or material we are otherwise permitted or required to retain.
4. Public and private content
The Workshop may allow you to designate supported content as Public or Private. Public content may be displayed to other users and visitors and may be discussed, linked to, or downloaded when the applicable Workshop feature permits downloading. Private content is intended to remain restricted to you and authorized administrators, except when access is reasonably necessary to provide support, investigate abuse or security issues, enforce these Terms, or comply with law.
Before making any content Public, make sure that your license or permission allows public display and, where applicable, digital sharing or redistribution.
5. Copyright, intellectual property, and user uploads
You may upload only files, photographs, artwork, designs, machine files, project files, logos, text, or other material that you created yourself or that you have sufficient permission or a valid license to upload and use in the manner selected.
Buying or downloading a digital file does not automatically give you the right to redistribute or publicly share the source file. A license may allow you to make physical products while prohibiting you from uploading, sharing, reselling, sublicensing, or distributing the digital design itself. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with the license that applies to any purchased or third-party content.
You represent and warrant that your User Content and your use of it through the Workshop do not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other rights of any person or entity. We may remove or disable access to material that we reasonably believe may infringe another party’s rights.
6. Copyright Complaints
Copyright complaints concerning material available through the Workshop should be sent to [email protected].
To help us evaluate a complaint promptly, please include:
- your physical or electronic signature, or the signature of a person authorized to act for the copyright owner;
- identification of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed, or a representative list if multiple works are involved;
- identification of the material you believe is infringing and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it, such as the project title, page address, file name, or URL;
- your name and reasonably sufficient contact information;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your complaint is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the right claimed to be infringed.
We may remove or disable access to disputed material while a complaint is reviewed and may notify the member who uploaded it.
Counter-notification
If your content is removed because of a copyright complaint and you believe the removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to [email protected]. A counter-notification should identify the removed material and its former location, include your physical or electronic signature and contact information, and contain the statements required by applicable law for a valid counter-notification.
Repeat infringement
Where appropriate, LHG may suspend or terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyrights or other intellectual-property rights. We may also restrict uploading privileges or remove content when a pattern of infringement or repeated rights violations is reasonably established.
7. Workshop and LHG intellectual property
Except for User Content and third-party materials, the Workshop software, site design, branding, logos, original documentation, custom workflows, databases, graphics, text, and other proprietary materials are owned by or licensed to LHG and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Workshop or any LHG intellectual property.
You may not copy, reverse engineer, reproduce, sell, license, or create derivative works from proprietary Workshop software or materials except as expressly permitted by law or with written permission from LHG.
8. Laser safety and project responsibility
Laser equipment can create fire, electrical, optical, respiratory, chemical, mechanical, and other hazards. You are solely responsible for safe equipment operation, material suitability, ventilation, fire prevention, protective equipment, supervision, maintenance, and compliance with manufacturer instructions and applicable laws.
Settings, techniques, files, suggestions, comments, project examples, and other information available through the Workshop may not be safe or suitable for your specific machine, material, environment, or experience level. Verify settings and procedures independently and begin with safe test conditions.
9. Educational information and automated assistance
The Workshop may include community suggestions, software-generated recommendations, AI-assisted information, LaserIQ responses, settings, troubleshooting guidance, or other educational content. Such information is provided for general informational purposes and may contain errors or may not apply to your equipment or circumstances. It is not a substitute for manufacturer documentation, professional advice, or your own safety judgment.
10. Third-party services and links
The Workshop may link to or interact with third-party services, websites, video platforms, email providers, hosting providers, AI services, image-processing services, or other external systems. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, or terms. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and policies.
11. Beta features, changes, and availability
Some Workshop features may be experimental, beta, incomplete, or subject to change. We may add, modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent storage of content, or compatibility with every browser, device, plugin, machine, or file format.
You should maintain your own copies of important project files, photographs, settings, and records.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Workshop at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of a violation of these Terms, repeated copyright infringement, unlawful or abusive conduct, security risk, nonpayment of applicable fees, misuse of the service, or conduct that threatens the Workshop or other users.
Account termination may result in loss of access to User Content. Data deletion and retention are also governed by the Workshop Privacy Notice and Data Deletion process.
13. Privacy
Your use of the Workshop is also subject to the Privacy Notice, which describes how information is collected, used, retained, and protected. The Data Deletion process provides a method for requesting cancellation of a Workshop account and deletion of associated information, subject to legal and technical retention requirements.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Workshop and all information, features, files, suggestions, and services made available through it are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. LHG disclaims warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LHG and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, files, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from or related to use of the Workshop.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
16. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LHG and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your User Content, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of another party’s rights, or your unlawful or unsafe use of the Workshop.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Workshop, its features, or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes may also be communicated through the Workshop, email, release notes, or another reasonable method. Continued use of the Workshop after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
18. Governing law and severability
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
19. Entire agreement and no waiver
These Terms, together with the Privacy Notice and any additional terms presented for a specific paid service or feature, constitute the agreement governing your use of the Workshop. A failure by LHG to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.

What size are you trying to do? That might be why it would take so long.
The size difference is definitely why the new project will take so long. The original was on 4" by 4.3" and the big one for the Moose Lodge will be quite a bit bigger. 12.5" by 18" approximately. I'm looking at a 5 hour project.
Yea the size definitely would make it take longer. All the stuff I have been doing with the 3D effect have been small. I would love to see how it turns out as a bigger peice. Look forward to the finished product.
I just need to get 5+ hours uninterrupted. Between spending time with family and Drs appointments, it's just the time constraints.
yea when I have a long burn and don't have other projects to work on in Lightburn I tend to go and other things around the house and check ok it every few minutes. is this a commissioned piece you are doing or just something you are doing for them?
Also, if you wanted to export that file I would like to see if maybe I can shorten you burn time for you so that it's not 5 hours? if you would like?
Thank You Joe, I just saw your comments here. I realize I can speed it up by changing my power and speed because I wasn't running at the maximum speed the laser can run.
I ran the large moose but the estimated time was way off. I am trying everything I can think of to get the time estimate right. I re-read from the controller, figuring maybe something got glitched with the updates. The numbers were a little bit off. The new time estimate was 5:29. Still a far cry from 8:11.
Edit: Now I'm really confused! I changed the speed of the laser from 26,000 mm/min to 36,000 mm/min, on both the photo layer and the text layer, just to see how much time it would say I cut down. It actually added 20 minutes to the estimated time.
Edit #2: I went on the Lightburn forum and it was suggested to set Cut Speed Scale and Global Speed Scale both to 200%. That should have made the estimated time approximately double. It actually took 20 seconds off.
